I spent one semester in an investigative reporting class. We completed a basic NICAR data course and explored data driven sources for stories. As part of a four female reporter team, we pursued records and data for concussions sustained by University of Montana athletes, specifically football players.
We discovered that the school did not keep track of concussion rates and continue to pursue the story right now. Our reporting was referenced in a local news story by the 406 Montana Sports.
